Thanks to an intense musical collaboration, this unusual quintet founded in Lyon in 2014 has developed in a continuous exchange between the music of the West and the East.
Their first programme, When the West Looks to the East, is dedicated to encounters between traditional oriental music (Ottoman, Arabo-Andalusian and Amazigh) and early European music (Renaissance and baroque).
Aftewards, Les Turqueries offers a second program, Abir, made up of compositions by Thibaut Rocheron inspired by traditional oriental music and European
contrapuntal language.
A third program is created in 2023: Les Turqueries and Neila Benloucif. In collaboration with an Algerian singer and created as part of a residency at the French
Institute of Annaba (Algeria), it is dedicated to the meeting between Baroque Europe and the Arab-Amazigh Maghreb, notably through compositions by Younes Baammi, lotar master of Léo
Fabre-Cartier.
